Events & Data Collection (GDPR Notice)
SpeedBiz UK (“SpeedBiz”, “we”, “us”) operates a global business networking and growth membership platform. For our meetings and events (our main offering), SpeedBiz acts as the data processor.
When someone registers for an event, we may collect: name, email, phone, company, job title, location/time zone, dietary/accessibility requirements, marketing preferences, and any custom questions the Organiser adds. We also process limited technical data (IP address, device/browser, timestamps) for security and fraud prevention.
Why we process it (legal bases).
Contract / legitimate interests – to manage registrations, issue tickets/confirmations, provide access links, check-in attendees, send essential event updates, and provide customer support.
Consent – where the Organiser requests optional marketing opt-in (e.g., “send me updates/offers”).
Legal obligation – to comply with applicable laws (e.g., tax, accounting, safety).
Sharing & recipients. Attendee data will not be shared with anyone outside the SpeedBiz team. We may use trusted sub-processors to provide the service (e.g., hosting, email, analytics, payment). We maintain a current sub-processor list on request and ensure appropriate data processing agreements and safeguards are in place.
International transfers. SpeedBiz operates globally. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK/EEA, we use lawful transfer mechanisms (e.g., UK/EEA adequacy decisions and/or Standard Contractual Clauses) and supplementary measures where required.
Retention. We retain event registration data for up to 24 months after the event to allow for follow-ups and record-keeping, unless a shorter period is agreed or longer retention is required by law (e.g., tax records). After this period, data is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights. Under the UK GDPR/EU GDPR, attendees have the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, attendees can withdraw consent at any time. Requests can be made to the Organiser (controller) or to us at [prue@speedbiz.club], and we will assist the Organiser in responding.
Security. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, audit logging, and regular reviews. No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.
